Our Story
Katie and Jake met during the first week of their freshman year at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. They spent their time in Nashville bonding over their love of the outdoors, concerts, exploring new places in the city, and cheering on the Dores! After graduation, Katie and Jake moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where Katie became an elementary school teacher and Jake trained to be a Naval submarine officer. Recently, they moved to the opposite coast outside of Seattle, Washington, where Jake had been stationed in the Navy and Katie continues to teach. They are currently enjoying exploring their new city, cheering on Seattle sports teams, and living life together with their cat, Lucy.
Six years after they met, Jake proposed to Katie on November 5th, 2023. He took her on a beautiful (but rainy of course!) fall-time walk down to the water in Seabeck, Washington. Luckily, the rain cleared up right before his proposal! They then went to their favorite brunch spot, took the ferry to downtown Seattle, got flowers from Katie's favorite stands in Pike Place Market, and had dinner together.
